about
"I have an early memory of painting red & white lines. I'm creating a circus and the big top is emerging, large with bold stripes. I am purposeful and deeply focused. I feel pure happiness in that moment, a profound sense of who I am. An adult voice asks me what I'd like to be when I grow up. My answer is simply, 'An artist.' "
That's where it all started for Antoinette, about age 3. She has always loved drawing, painting, colour and design. Her artwork and skills have grown just as she has, her design talents honed through graphic design studies and thirty plus years of working upon a variety of creative projects. Antoinette's artistic skills have seen her paint large scale acrylic paintings for homes and offices and work directly with clients for interior and exterior colour consultation. Describing herself as an artist is a broad term for her innate sense of design, colour and an ability to bring a creative idea to life visually.
"I am inspired by people, nature, science, history, culture and tradition. I see colour, movement and design everywhere. My art is inspired by everyday things and found objects - water movement; light reflections; my daughter's striking line drawings; the colour combinations my son chooses with pencils. My husband and I travelled to India a few years ago which was incredibly inspiring. Colour can invoke certain feelings and behaviours, whether calmness or conversation. When I'm creating a painting, I trust my instinct and listen to that little 3 year old within." Antoinette's other roles include being a wife, a mother for two beautiful children and "sometime gardener". She works from her home studio in Melbourne.
Her paintings are on various home and office walls in Australia and the United States.
